Youth MusicStudents, grades 7-12, give back to God through the gift of music. Join the musical family of Friendswood UMC. Spirit Singers Youth ChoirSpirit Singers youth choir gives our youth, Grades 7-12, the opportunity to serve God while learning singing and music reading skills. Through the music experience, our youth grow in faith and in Christian leadership as they create beauty and inspiration for worship. Spirit Singers Choir is responsible for leading worship at the 8:30am service each week, late August through May. Additionally, they sing several times throughout the year for special services and take musical mission trips in even-years to spread the gospel through song. Rehearsals: Wednesdays 6:00-7:00pm, preceded by a light dinner at 5:15pm ($4/person, open to choir members and their families, $20/family max charge, reservations suggested). Church OrchestraOur Church Orchestra plays twice each month (second and fourth Sundays) in worship accompanying our Chancel Choir along with some special services throughout the year. The orchestra is comprised of high-school age students as well as adults and college students and meets each Wednesday evening, September through May, for rehearsals. Auditions are required. Rehearsals: Wednesdays 7:15-8:30pm Director: John Stuckey Bells of PraiseBells of Praise is an intermediate level handbell choir focusing on more advanced ringing techniques and music theory while honing their skills as working together as a choir. This choir builds on the techniques learned in Symbols of Love. One to two years handbell experience and basic music reading skills are required. Directed by Michele Johnson and Sharyl Haynie. Rehearsals: Wednesdays 4:45-5:45pm.
Spirit RingersSpirit Ringers is an advanced handbell choir selected by audition only. Three to four years previous handbell experience or the equivalent is required. Directed by Dee Ann Emberton. Rehearsals Tuesdays 8:00-9:30pm.
